It all started when the showrunner of Netflix’s The Witcher, Lauren S. Hissrich‏ tweeted out a character description of Vesemir, the de facto mentor for main character Geralt.

To which a Star Wars fan on Twitter replied and tagged Mark Hamill saying that Hamill “could/should” play the character. Although it seems Hamill is not fully familiar with The Witcher series or who Vesemir is, the actor responded in his signature half-joking style, saying he should play the character.

The idea continued to grow with the official Twitter for The Witcher game series photoshopping and tweeting out a picture of Hamill’s face on Vesemir’s body.

It seems like everyone is a fan of the idea, even Lauren Hissrich:

Netflix’s The Witcher series has been getting some attention recently, with Hissrich sharing a series of character descriptions likely to appear in the live action series. She also tweeted out a picture of the completed draft of the script for the show’s pilot episode.

Unfortunately, images of a pilot script and character descriptions likely mean the show’s Netflix debut is still a long way off, but the good news is that casting for the show is still yet to occur. So the possibility of Hamill taking on the role of Vesemir shouldn’t be counted out as a possibility at this point.

Many fans of the actor are likely even more excited by the thought of Hamill taking the role given how popular his Joker voice work is. Vesemir may not be a villian, but he’s certainly dynamic enough of a character for Hamill to have lots of room to play.

Netflix’s The Witcher is in pre-production and is based on the same series of novels on which the three games are also based.

The Witcher 3 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
