While Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle featured post-launch content in the form of a Donkey Kong Adventure expansion, Ubisoft is looking to do even more with Sparks of Hope. As the game approaches its October 20 launch date, Nintendo announced a Gold Edition players can purchase if they’re looking for more content. As expected, players will need to pay a little bit more for this version of the game, and as of now, there doesn’t appear to be a way to purchase the season pass separately outside of the Gold Edition.

According to the Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope description, the Gold Edition comes with the Season Pass and the Galactic Prestige Pack. In terms of the Season Pass, not too many specifics are known as of yet. The description indicates that owners will be getting access to upcoming downloadable content packs which include additional story content, new heroes like Donkey Kong was in Kingdom Battle, quests, and combat encounters.

Unlike the season pass content, the Galactic Prestige Collection is mainly cosmetic focused. According to the listing on the Nintendo eShop, this pack features three “supremely stylish” weapon skins for the team to use. Better yet, the weapon skins are unlocked right away, so players don’t need to grind or reach a certain point in the story first. The description also indicates these skins are exclusive, so it appears likely that Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope players won’t be able to pick these up outside of this Gold Edition bundle.

While the Gold Edition isn’t anything new from Ubisoft related games, Sparks of Hope appears to be bringing tons of new features to the series. The biggest change players will notice is the removal of the grid-based tactical combat in favor of a more open and free style before setting up to use a weapon. This means, players can run around and dash into enemies to set up for plenty of multihit attacks. Once a weapon is used, that characters turn is over and combat proceeds forward.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope will release on October 20 for Nintendo Switch.
