Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope’s season pass and Gold Editions were confirmed earlier this year, which will contain more content after the game’s October launch. There was some precedent for this DLC, too, as Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle featured a DLC involving Nintendo’s primate protagonist Donkey Kong. However, fans were very surprised to see Rayman make an unexpected appearance, and the character will be the focus of a separate DLC adventure in this game.

This new trailer for Rayman’s appearance in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope starts by showing off the ears of the Rabbids in a lineup. Occasionally Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach can be seen amongst the crowd. While the Rabbids are squabbling among themselves, Rayman’s hair pops halfway through, where the camera continues moving right until it stops immediately to focus on Rayman again. Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach then move next to him, where it reveals that Rayman will star in his own DLC adventure with the Rabbids.
The last franchise entry in the Rayman series was Rayman Legends, which was originally released in 2013 and had a definitive edition on the Nintendo Switch in 2017. After that, Ubisoft’s former mascot has been held to an occasional cameo role, with the Rabbids taking the spotlight from him. The final appearance that Rayman had shared with the Rabbids was 2008’s Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party on the Wii, so Rayman appearing in a DLC with the Rabbids will please those who wish to see them reunite.
While some are appreciative that Rayman will be making an appearance in the DLC of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, others think that Rayman is still due for a proper comeback with a full game as opposed to an expansion to an existing game with the Rabbids. Despite this, Rayman’s addition is a pleasing surprise and can please the fans who are wishing for Ubisoft to do more with the character.
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is scheduled to release October 20 for Nintendo Switch.
