Mario Party Superstars brought back many classic boards from the Mario Party series and is often considered one of the best Nintendo Switch games of 2021. The title enables up to four players to take part in a series of minigames both locally and online, and continues to be one of the biggest selling games on the digital Nintendo store.

Speculation about possible DLC has increased following a recent YouTube advertiser survey, which asked, “Next time you buy a downloadable content pack, which one are you most likely to buy?” and had Mario Party Superstars as one of the options to select. Other options in the survey included the upcoming Mario Kart 8 DLC, Hot Wheels Unleashed and Animal Crossing New Horizons: Happy Home Paradise. The design of Mario Party Superstars could facilitate new minigames to be easily added, such to the title’s Mt. Minigames, where players take part in a number of challenges in quick succession.
It is unclear if the survey was created by Nintendo or a third party. However, with the original Mario Party game on the Nintendo Switch, Super Mario Party, not receiving any DLC, Mario Party Superstars appears a more likely title for new content. Since launch, fans have been considering what other boards could be made available within Mario Party Superstars, such as Koopa’s Tycoon Town from Mario Party 8 or Bowser’s Pinball Machine from Mario Party DS, which could form part of upcoming DLC.
Many gamers will be keen to see new content added to Mario Party Superstars and DLC could be included as part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, which continues to have new content added and regular improvements made, such as the recent enhancements to the Nintendo 64 emulation. DLC could even tie in with the release of the three Nintendo 64 Mario Party games, which are currently absent from the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. However, fans may be concerned Nintendo is increasingly relying on revenue from downloadable content, rather than including all possible content when a game is initially released.
Mario Party Superstars is available now for Nintendo Switch.
