The previous two waves of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC have been warmly received. Wave 1 was delivered on March 22 and featured beloved courses like the Nintendo 64 Mario Kart’s Choco Mountain and the Wii’s Coconut Mall. Wave 2 released on August 4 and featured Sky-High Sundae, the Booster Course Pass’ first original track, and Kalimari Desert from Mario Kart 64. Wave 3 marks the halfway point for the Booster Course Pass, with 24 more tracks planned for release in 2023.

Wave 3 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass features eight more tracks for players to race through, split between two new Cups just like previous waves. Highlights for Wave 3 include the well-time winter map Merry Mountain from Mario Kart Tour and the first Booster Course Pass Rainbow Road track, taken from Mario Kart 7.

Maple Treeway - Mario Kart Wii Rainbow Road - Mario Kart 7 Boo Lake - Mario Kart Super Circuit Berlin Byways - Mario Kart Tour Rock Rock Mountain - Mario Kart 7 Peach Gardens - Mario Kart DS London Loop - Mario Kart Tour Merry Mountain - Mario Kart Tour

As has been typical of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass waves so far, Wave 3 features a significant number of tracks from the Mario Kart Tour mobile game and handheld versions of Mario Kart. In fact, the only track included in Wave 3 that originates from a console version of Mario Kart is Mario Kart Wii’s Maple Treeway.

Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass is available for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe players to download and play right now. The DLC can be purchased as part of the full Booster Course Pass for $24.99. Individual waves are not available for purchase, unfortunately. It’s all or nothing. Alternatively, the Booster Course Pass is included with the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. The subscription costs $49.99 for a 12-month membership.

In some ways, the new wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC faces the same criticisms that previous waves have. Mario Kart fans want to see more Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 tracks, as well as original tracks. Creating those for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes some time, though, so Nintendo is understandably splitting them between waves. There should be plenty of great DLC content to keep players entertained in the meantime.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available now on Switch.
