Instead of a full sequel, Nintendo revealed long term DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe where six waves of 8 courses, both remastered and new, will be added to the game over time. While fans can purchase the Pass on its own, the content would be included for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers, adding even more value to the service. While the first wave launched back in March and included fan favorites like Coconut Mall, Nintendo has finally revealed the second set of courses and its release date as well.

The latest trailer for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe showcases Booster Course Pass Wave 2 and introduces the 7 remastered courses and 1 new track. As part of the new Turnip Cup, fans will be able to race on New York Minute, from the mobile spin-off Mario Kart Tour, Mario Circuit 3 from the Super Nintendo game, Kalimari Desert from Mario Kart 64, and Waluigi Pinball from Mario Kart DS.

The other cup tracks under Propeller include Sydney Spring from Mario Kart Tour, Snow Land from the Mario Kart Super Circuit on the Game Boy Advance, Mushroom Gorge from Mario Kart Wii, and Wave 2’s original track called Sky-High Sundae. The original track takes plenty of inspiration from desserts with a massive ice cream sundae at the center of the course, hot fudge and popsicle pieces to drive over, and much more. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe players can go hands on with all 8 courses starting on August 4.

Nintendo still has four waves left in the Booster Course Pass, set to extend well into 2023. Considering the length of time between Wave 1 and 2, it seems Nintendo is set on releasing new tracks every 4-5 months, which puts Wave 3 sometime in December or January. While there have been no official hints at what courses may get included, dataminers may have come across future Mario Kart 8 tracks including classics like Vanilla Lake to even Double Dash tracks like Waluigi Stadium. Still, things could change and with at least 4 original tracks, there are still plenty of surprises to be found.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
