Cano was batting in the top of the third inning when a pitch from Detroit left-hander Blaine Hardy sailed inside and hit him near the hand.
The eight-time All-Star and 2009 World Series champion was examined by Seattle’s trainer near home plate before being removed.
Cano – a five-time Silver Slugger and two-time Gold Glove award winner – was replaced at second base by Andrew Romine.
The 35-year-old has hit .287 with four home runs and 23 RBIs this season.
He batted .280 with 23 home runs and 97 RBIs in 2017.
